Our Robot
2025-26 Season

Digging into the Game

Each January, the FIRST Robotics Competition challenge is announced. We do not get any blueprints for how to build our robot. Once the challenge is announced, our team immediately begins to discuss strategy and gets to work designing our robot to execute the challenge. We use CAD to design and build our robot. Most of the parts for our robot are made by our team in our robotics room at Watertown-Mayer High School, using 3D printers, a CNC router, & various hand and power tools.

2025-26 FIRST Competition Challenge

Every artifact we uncover holds a story. Each tool, each innovation, each work of art connects us to the people and ideas that came before us. Using STEM skills and teamwork, today we can dig deeper into discoveries than ever before.

Key Features of Our Robot

Mechanisms

  1. Chassis: Swerve drive on chassis.

  2. Fuel Intake & Handling: Floor-loading intake manipulator uses a wide single active roller giving fast fuel intake with a  backer bar to prevent the slippery 2026 fuel from spinning when being drawn in.

  3. Hopper & Kicker: Designed to manage a large quantity of fuel, with a kicker mechanism moving balls from the hopper to the turret.

  4. Turret & Launcher: Features a turret assembly and a launcher optimized for scoring fuel into the hub.

Performance

  1. Agility: A true 2-d drivetrain in which drive direction may be divorced from chassis orientation and facilitates intuitive, rapid robot movement on the playing field

  2. Traction: High traction wheels may be employed without negative consequence; force may be vectored in any desired direction.

  3. Vision: On-board camera, to supply visual feedback to the human operators, and to view AprilTags - visual markers designed for quick and accurate detection by our computer vision system.
